Originally named Tide Water Oil Distributorship, it became Martin Oil Company in 1978. Two years later, they acquired the well-established Nittany Oil Company, which was founded in 1958 by Galen Driebelbis.

Nittany Oil grew as the trusted residential heating oil provider in Central Pennsylvania. Expansion continued with the purchase of K.V. Oil Company in Mifflin County and Hilltop Oil Company in Juniata County in 2003. In 2007, they bought Wilson Oil and State Gas & Oil. In 2010, they added Pickelner Fuel Co. and K&C fuel in Mifflintown. Their most recent acquisition was A1 Oil Company in 2012.
